When Taylor Swift shared her suspicion that NSYNC’s reunion at the VMAs was more than just a one-time spectacle, she was onto something big. While standing on stage with the former boy band members, she couldn’t quite pinpoint what was in the air. Now, a day later, the mystery is unraveled, at least in part.

NSYNC is officially making a comeback and has announced the release of their first song in two decades, titled “Better Place,” set to drop on September 29th. Fans got a sneak peek at the track as a snippet from “Better Place” (along with their classic hit “I Want You Back”) featured in the new trailer for “Trolls Band Together,” the third installment of the beloved animated franchise starring none other than NSYNC’s lead singer, Justin Timberlake, and Anna Kendrick. The trailer was released Wednesday night, and you can watch it above (the two songs are at the end). Adding to the excitement, a portion of “Better Place” was also unveiled on TikTok following a cryptic teaser video the NSYNC quintet posted on Instagram earlier in the day, drawing inspiration from the hit show “Friends.”

The rumors had been circulating for weeks, but the NSYNC reunion at the VMAs cemented it as a classic moment in pop culture history. Pop icons Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, JC Chasez, and Chris Kirkpatrick graced the stage alongside today’s biggest pop star, Taylor Swift, to present her with the coveted award for Best Pop.

As Swift mused on stage, “Are you doing something? What’s going to happen now? They’re going to do something, and I need to know what it is,” she channeled the collective thoughts of millions of fans who adore one of the most legendary boy bands of all time.

The stage is set for NSYNC’s triumphant return, and music enthusiasts around the world can hardly wait for the nostalgia and excitement that “Better Place” will undoubtedly bring.
