Starfield Update: Bethesda Addresses Minor Bugs – What’s on the Horizon?

Bethesda’s space-faring RPG, Starfield, has been captivating gamers since its launch on September 1. However, even with its stellar debut, the game hasn’t been without a few hiccups. On September 25, Bethesda released a small update aimed at rectifying minor bugs and performance issues on the PC version. But what players are truly eager for is the promise of a more substantial update, one that could bring much-needed quality of life improvements to the experience.

A Tiny Step in the Right Direction

The September 25 update, while relatively minor, marks the second patch since Starfield’s release. Bethesda referred to the previous one as a “hotfix” on September 13, which primarily addressed three bugs in major quests and improved stability on Xbox Series X/S. These initial patches were essential for tackling critical issues, but players are now looking for more substantial enhancements.

The Promised Game-Changer

Bethesda acknowledged the need for a more substantial update, stating on their website, “We are continuing to work on a larger update that will add features and improvements that we noted in our last update notes.” This statement has sparked curiosity among Starfield enthusiasts, as they eagerly await significant changes and additions.

The Wishlist for the Future

Starfield’s release didn’t come without its share of wish-list items, many of which players are hopeful to see in future updates. Some of these highly anticipated improvements include Nvidia DLSS support, which is currently absent due to the game’s exclusive partnership with AMD. Bethesda has promised an official fix for this issue, offering a ray of hope for gamers seeking enhanced graphics.

Other requested features include more PC display options, accessibility improvements, and gameplay enhancements. Players have also expressed a desire for brightness and contrast controls, an HDR Calibration Menu, and an FOV Slider. Additionally, an automatic food consumption button to streamline inventory management is on the horizon.

A Patient Wait

As Starfield approaches its one-month anniversary, some have noted that the pace of major updates appears slower compared to recent blockbuster RPG releases. Titles like Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3 have seen more frequent updates addressing various aspects of gameplay. Starfield, while generally praised, has faced criticism for its user interface quirks, dated systems, and limited accessibility options.

The future, however, remains uncertain. While it’s unclear how many of these requested changes will materialize in upcoming updates, both Bethesda and Microsoft have expressed their commitment to ongoing post-launch support and the promise of future DLC expansions. Starfield’s journey has only just begun, and players can look forward to an evolving space exploration experience.
