LANDOVER, Md. – In a remarkable performance, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown left an indelible mark on the NFL record books, setting a new standard for consistency in Sunday’s exciting 38-31 victory over the Washington Commanders. Brown achieved an extraordinary feat by recording 125+ receiving yards in six consecutive games, breaking a tie with legends Pat Studstill (1966) and Calvin Johnson (2012).

Brown’s Sunday showcase featured eight receptions for a total of 130 yards and two touchdowns, capturing the essence of his extraordinary talent. His one-handed snag in the corner of the end zone, with cornerback Benjamin St-Juste draped over him, bore an uncanny resemblance to legendary receiver Calvin Johnson’s plays. Eagles cornerback Darius Slay, who had the privilege of being Johnson’s teammate in Detroit, marveled at Brown’s skills, saying, “He’s got some of the strongest hands I’ve played against in the league. He attacks the ball just like Calvin used to do. It’s mind-blowing that I’m seeing someone else do the same thing. He’s doing some crazy s— right now.”

Brown’s heroics extended beyond the end zone, with 0.7 and 0.6 yards of separation on his two touchdown catches, the closest any Eagles receiver has come to scoring this season, according to Next Gen Stats. His exceptional connection with quarterback Jalen Hurts, who completed four touchdown passes and a perfect 15-of-15 when targeting Brown and DeVonta Smith, underscored the receiver’s pivotal role in the team’s success.

Averaging 939 yards through eight games, Brown is on pace for a staggering 1,995-yard season with 128 catches. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni was effusive in his praise, saying, “I want that jersey before the NFL can get its hands on it. A.J. has done it better over a six-game stretch than anybody ever to play this game. That’s pretty special.”

Brown’s contributions extend well beyond his remarkable streak. He has 12 receiving touchdowns on throws of 15 or more yards downfield since the start of last season, making him the NFL leader in this category. His extraordinary performance helped the Eagles overcome a sluggish start and multiple red zone turnovers, securing a 7-1 record.

Yet, Brown remains humble and focused on the task at hand. He emphasized, “Because I’m still working… I think there will be a time when I sit down and I’ll [reflect] and I’ll be like, ‘Go A.J.!’ But that’s not it right now. We’ve got a big matchup, we’ve got Dallas [next week] … we’ve got to clean up some stuff and go to work.”

A.J. Brown’s incredible journey continues to captivate fans and rewrite the NFL record books, leaving a legacy in the making.
