The upcoming Colorado vs. Colorado State college football game just got a lot more personal, thanks to some fiery words exchanged between the rival coaches. Deion Sanders, head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, and Jay Norvell, head coach of the Colorado State Rams, have added some extra spice to the matchup with their recent comments.

During his weekly radio show, Rams coach Jay Norvell didn’t hold back when discussing Deion Sanders’ distinctive style. Norvell took a playful jab at Sanders, known for his habit of wearing hats and sunglasses during news conferences, saying, “I don’t care if they hear this in Boulder. I told them [ESPN] — I took my hat off, and I took my glasses off. I said, ‘When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me.'”

The live audience and the show’s host, Colorado State football radio voice Brian Roth, responded with applause to Norvell’s comments. It didn’t take long for Sanders to catch wind of these remarks.

In a video titled “Coach Prime & The CU Buffs Respond to Lil Bro,” posted on YouTube by Well Off Media (run by Deion Sanders Jr.), Coach Sanders addressed his team at practice. Clearly fired up, Sanders expressed his displeasure with Norvell’s comments. He questioned why the Rams’ coach would talk about the Buffaloes when they don’t engage in trash talk and instead focus on their performance on the field.

Sanders declared, “It was just gonna be a good game and they done messed around and made it personal.”

As the video continued, Sanders emphasized the personal nature of the upcoming game, stating, “Now he’s messing with my mama,” referring to Norvell’s comment about how he was raised.

Despite the verbal sparring, Norvell also showed respect for Sanders and the progress he’s made with the Buffaloes. He commended the swift turnaround of Colorado’s football program under Sanders’ leadership and praised Buffaloes’ quarterback, Shedeur Sanders.

Colorado enters the Rocky Mountain Showdown game with a 2-0 record, a significant improvement over last season. They are currently ranked No. 18 in the Associated Press poll. On the other hand, Colorado State is looking for their first win after losing their season opener to Washington State with a score of 50-24.

This rivalry game is set to be a heated showdown, with both coaches adding some extra spice to the mix. Stay tuned as Colorado and Colorado State face off in a game that promises to be unforgettable.
