Despite the rainy conditions, a capacity crowd of 92,746 witnessed an exciting game that showcased the Bulldogs’ resilience and determination.

The Bulldogs, with a record of 3-0 (1-0 SEC), faced their first deficit of the season early in the game when the Gamecocks (1-2, 0-1 SEC) took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Spencer Rattler connected with Antwane Wells for a 16-yard touchdown pass. However, Georgia responded swiftly with a 31-yard field goal by Peyton Woodring to cut into South Carolina’s lead.

As the first half unfolded, Georgia had a golden opportunity to score but missed a 28-yard field goal attempt, leaving them trailing 14-3 after the Gamecocks executed an 80-yard touchdown drive just before halftime.

The second half saw a resurgent Georgia team taking control of the game. Quarterback Carson Beck, who finished the game with 269 passing yards, led the Bulldogs to three crucial rushing touchdowns. Daijun Edwards, returning after missing the first two games due to injury, made a significant impact.

Key Moments in the Second Half:

  1. Edwards scored a seven-yard touchdown, reducing South Carolina’s lead to 14-10.
  2. The Georgia defense stepped up with a three-and-out, providing excellent field position for the Bulldogs.
  3. Dillon Bell’s three-yard touchdown run gave Georgia a 17-14 lead.
  4. Cash Jones added another touchdown with a 13-yard run, extending Georgia’s lead to 24-14.

The Georgia defense, characterized by strong pass-rushing and pass-breakups, played a crucial role in securing the win. Safety Dan Jackson’s interception in the fourth quarter further sealed South Carolina’s fate.

Despite a missed field goal and red-zone struggles in the fourth quarter, Georgia managed to maintain its lead and secure the victory. The Bulldogs’ dominance in total yards (458 to 309) and a strong second-half performance were instrumental in their success.

With this win, the Georgia Bulldogs extended several impressive streaks, including a 20-game winning streak, a school-record 30 consecutive regular-season victories, and a 21-game winning streak at Dooley Field.

Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will continue their four-game homestand as they face UAB next Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. This victory serves as a testament to their resilience and determination as they strive for another successful season in SEC football.
