November 1 – The New York Knicks, led by a strong performance from Julius Randle, posted a convincing victory on Tuesday night as they clashed with the short-handed Cleveland Cavaliers. In the opener of a home-and-home set, the Knicks pulled away in the second half, securing a 109-91 win over the Cavaliers.

Dominant Second Half Performance

Randle, the star of the night, recorded an impressive double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Knicks proved their mettle as they outscored the Cavaliers 51-39 in the second half, sealing the deal with a strong finish. With this victory, the Knicks are all set to face the Cavaliers again in a thrilling rematch on Wednesday night in New York.

Standout Players

Apart from Julius Randle’s stellar performance, Jalen Brunson also scored 19 points, contributing significantly to the Knicks’ win. RJ Barrett added 16 points to the scoreboard, further strengthening the team’s position. Immanuel Quickley (18 points) and Isaiah Hartenstein (13 points) were pivotal off the bench, shooting an impressive 52.4 percent from the field (11-for-21).

Cavaliers Struggle Without Key Players

Donovan Mitchell emerged as the leading scorer for the Cavaliers, registering 26 points. However, the Cavaliers faced a significant challenge as they played without key players like Darius Garland, Caris LeVert, and Jarrett Allen. Despite Cleveland’s efforts, the Knicks concluded the first half with an 8-4 run, securing a 58-52 lead.

The third quarter began with the Cavaliers narrowing the gap to four points twice, but they soon went cold. The Knicks capitalized on this, concluding the quarter with a dominant 24-10 run. Randle and Brunson were instrumental in this surge, with Cleveland struggling, going 0-for-11 with four turnovers over nearly six minutes. The Cavaliers shot just 29.2 percent (7-for-24) in the third quarter.

The fourth quarter witnessed a spirited start by the Cavaliers with a 10-4 run, but the Knicks answered with a 9-0 run. This stretch included two impressive 3-pointers by Quickley and a critical 3-pointer from Josh Hart. The Knicks extended their lead to 99-78 with 6:36 left, and they maintained their dominance throughout the final stretch, ultimately leading by as many as 23 points.
